PACE a new name with 17 years experience (Formally Terry Fyke Studio of Dance). We are a family run organization that strives to enrich the lives of our students through the performing arts. Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment for children to grow. We offer high quality, affordable classes in many artistic styles and levels. We (The staff) strive to help each child “set the pace” for their dance education. Supporting them in being the best they can be.

Melissa Carney
Miss Lissa started dancing over 21 years ago and along with her talent; her passion and love for dance has also grown over the years. Growing up with the influence of Teachers and workshops including those of Terry Fyke, Jessica Padilla, staff from Push Physical Theater, Broadway workshops (RBTL), Disney World dance workshops and instructors from the University of Buffalo and Brockport, Thomas Warfield, and many local teachers. She continues to seek out master workshops to feed her passion for learning. In April 2011 Melissa had the pleasure of co- directing a group of TFSD students to perform at Walt Disney World along with performing in 2003, and 2009. Most recent was her 2012 performance at the blue cross arena with TFH. Melissa’s working history includes; Assistant-Director of Terry Fyke Studio of Dance for 3 years, and a dance instructor for 9 years, Teaching Assistant at R.I.T before starting P.A.C.E. in 2011.
When she is not dancing, Melissa is enjoying life with her Husband and two beautiful daughters.

Terry Fyke – Master Teacher/ Studio adviser
Miss Terry has been teaching in the Rochester Area for over 20 years. Terry establish her Christian Dance Team Earthen Vessels in 1990. She opened TFSD in Scottsville in 1995; TFSD & Arts LLC in 2007. In addition to Pace And TFSD & Arts LLC, she currently teaches dance at Rochester Institute Of Technology in the Wellness Center. Throughout the year, she can also be found producing and directing high school and community productions. Her credits with Roberts Wesleyan College Community Theater include, Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma!, The King & I and My Fair Lady. Terry holds a B.A. in Dance and Musical Theater.

Allison Crane – Master Ballet Teacher
Ms. Crane began her dance career in Erie, PA under the direction of the late Sharon Filone at the Lake Erie Ballet School. She trained for 15 years in classical ballet and performed various roles in The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, including the title role in Peter Pan. She also participated in Regional Dance America NE region Festivals in 2002 and 2003. She danced as a trainee and apprentice with the Lake Erie Ballet Company for the 2004-05 Season under the direction of Gina Ribera-Illingworth. Ms. Crane studied to become a Physician Assistant at the Rochester Institute of Technology 2005-2009, where she met Terry Fyke and was asked to join the staff as the senior ballet and pointe teacher at TFSD in 2007. Ms. Crane also currently works full time at Strong Memorial Hospital in the department of hospital medicine.

Julie Richardson Brown – Fitness Instructor
has 20 plus years dance experience. She has studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Yoga, Pilates, Jazzercise, aerobics, kickboxing and more; has worked in musical theater as a choreographer, apprenticed with a dance therapist, has performed on stage hundreds of times and has taught dance for almost 15 years. She attended SUNY Brockport for dance and studied under Garth Fagan, Suzanne Payton, James Payton, Santo Gaglio, and Irma Pilishenko. Julie has 8 children and has home schooled them from kindergarten through high-school; enjoys organic gardening and has many animals on her 18 acre farm.
